Storage: two switches, one token.
The vault remembers preferences only when that serves a clear purpose.
Decision memory
meralviko.website.choice is a localStorage entry containing the optional-storage decision and its expiry. It can remain for 180 days. Saving Necessary only still remembers that decision, so the banner need not interrupt every page.
Optional display memory
meralviko.website.display stores whether reduced motion was selected. It is written only after permission for preferences. A later refusal removes it; the current page can still use a quieter display without saving that setting.
Submission validation
meralviko_form is an HTTP-only cookie with a one-hour expiry. The contact form uses it to match a security token before accepting a POST. It does not record turns, distinguish players for advertising or enable a mailing subscription.
Operate the controls
Review the choice panel whenever you like. Clear site preferences removes the two named browser entries, resets the local display choice and shows the banner again. Messages already stored by the contact handler are unaffected.
A blocked store
If your browser refuses localStorage, the lock still turns and the pages remain readable. Preference choices then last only for the current page and the banner may reappear.
